Former Lamar standout is CCIW's POY

Elmhurst College senior Robert Daggett of Meridian, was one of eight Elmhurst College players named to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin all-conference baseball team.
Daggett, a former Lamar School standout, was named CCIW "Player of the Year," becoming the first Bluejay to earn the honor since 1985. He is also the first Bluejay to win the batting title since 1979.
Daggett earned CCIW first team honors as a designated hitter and was a second-team selection as a pitcher.
Daggett posted a .411 batting average, and led the Bluejays with 18 doubles, seven home runs, 50 RBIs, slugging percentage of .742 and on-base percentage of .554.
He finished with a .479 batting average in CCIW conference play.
In league action, he posted a slugging percentage of .859, including five home runs and 26 RBIs. He also posted a 5-0 record and 3.48 ERA in league play.
On the mound, he complied a 6-0 recorded with a 5.09 ERA. He was the only player to earn both "Batter of the Week" and "Pitcher of the Week" honors.
The Bluejays finished with a 28-14 record, and finished second in their conference.
