Charges pending in ATM theft

Lauderdale County sheriff's investigators were questioning three suspects today about a break-in at a local grocery and the theft of an ATM machine.
He said a suspect is apparently a relative of one of the two men who allegedly backed a truck through the front door of Palmer's Food Store at 8505 Highway 39 North about 5 a.m. Sunday.
Mitchell said most of the security cameras inside the store were dismantled, and the ATM machine was pried up from the floor.
Maj. Ward Calhoun is credited with identifying the suspects because he remembered stopping a vehicle during a routine traffic stop last week whose tire tracks and color matched evidence found at the store. The match led to a search of one of the suspect's homes, where the ATM machine was found.
Charges are expected to be filed sometime today.
