Meridian All-Stars in state finals

CLINTON The Meridian All-Stars earned a berth to the championship game of the Cal Ripken 10-Year-Old State Tournament notching a 7-2 victory over host Clinton on Sunday.
Meridian, which has not lost a game in the double-elimination tournament, will face the winner from the consolation bracket at 6 p.m. today for a chance to advance to the regional tournament.
Tyler Stanley, who teamed up with starting pitcher Nate Fincher on the mound to record nine strike outs, assured the squad's victory in the fourth inning.
With runners on second and third, Tyler Stanley ripped a two-run double to give Meridian a 6-2 lead.
Wes Stokes led Meridian's attack at the plate with two hits, and Luke Stanley smacked a double in the win.
Zac Johnson, Will Abbey, Alex Stegall and Daniel Knox each recorded hits for Meridian.
