11-Year-Old Meridian team
wins Cal Ripken Jr. crown

LONG BEACH Meridian continued its dominance in the 11-year-old State Cal Ripken Jr. Tournament by thrashing North Jackson 11-0 in Monday's championship game.
Meridian was unscored on in its four-game sweep of the tournament. The team will now travel to Eagle Pass, Texas for the Southwest Regional Tournament.
Davis Tucker tossed a four-inning two-hitter to lead the winners to the run-rule victory, while Michael Sterling had two hits and drove in four runs.
LaColton Jackson had a hit and two RBIs, while Joey Lawn had a hit and RBI as well.
Meridian, which had eight hits for the game, scored one run in the first, five in the third and five in the fourth.
