Butler Dental has moved into new offices in a historic building on South Mulberry Avenue in Butler, Ala.
Dr. Julie Utsey and Dr. James Walker will offer a modern on-site lab facility to provide one-day dentures and partials service to West Alabama residents.
The Knowles Building, at 114 South Mulberry Ave., was built in the early 1900s and has previously housed a service station, a car dealership, a furniture store, a dress shop and an insurance company.
The building served as the location for the draft board during World War II. The dental office includes part of the second story which has not been in use for more than 40 years.
Utsey received a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama in 1993 and graduated from University of Alabama Dental School in 1997. She practiced dentistry in Gadsden, Ala., prior to opening an office in Butler. She is married to Jeff Utsey, a local attorney, and they have three children, Maggie, Britton, and Jack.
Walker received a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama in 1965 and graduated from the University of Alabama Dental School in 1969. After serving in the U.S. Army, he practiced dentistry in Centre and Gadsden for 33 years.
