Jeffrey Ramsey, 16, of Lauderdale, reaffirmed his interest in a career in medicine this summer after he attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in Atlanta.
He said he is considering a career either in physical therapy or respiratory therapy. Ramsey, a junior at Northeast High School, is the son of Carolyn F. Ramsey and Jeffrey T. Ramsey Jr. and grandson of Annie F. Ramsey.
Students attending the forum were chosen based on their academic achievement and their interest in a career related to science and health.
The forum Ramsey attended was held July 6-14 for more than 350 high school juniors and seniors from across the United States.
During the forum, students visited several medical institutions, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They also interacted with doctors, nurses, scientists and professors to study the history of medicine, as well as the latest trends.
