The B.I.G. (Brain Injury's Greatest) Ride, a cross-country bicycle tour currently under way to promote awareness and prevention of brain injuries, will make an overnight stop in Meridian on Sunday.
Lee Anne Barry of Charlotte, N.C., a brain injury survivor and founder/director of event, is leading the second coast-to-coast tour as she did the inaugural ride in 2001.
The ride seeks to raise funds for state brain injury associations across America, which promote seat belt and helmet use, fund research and offer support and assistance to brain injury victims.
It kicked off August 29 in Portland, Ore., and is scheduled to cover over 4,100 miles and 100 U.S. cities and towns in 17 states by its final stop Oct. 20 in Orlando, Fla.
