Poplar Springs rescue

By Staff
POPLAR SPRINGS RESCUE Meridian police, firefighters and paramedics responded to a motor vehicle accident Friday afternoon when this SUV went into a gully near Poplar Springs Drive and 36th Street. Cutters had to be used to rescue a woman and a 3-year-old child. Neither the victims' names, nor information about the cause of the accident, were available from police. Detective Dean Harper, a spokesman for the Meridian Police Department, said officers responded to a lot of accidents throughout the day Friday and that rain and wet roads apparently contributed to many of them. Clayton Cobler, director of Metro Ambulance, confirmed that a trauma system alert was activated at one of the local hospitals for the child injured in the accident.
