BUTLER, Ala. Services for Samuel "Sam Jr." Edgar Robinson Jr. will be held today at 11 a.m. at Brightwater Methodist Church with the Revs. Rebecca Harper and Leonard Shults officiating. Burial will be in Brightwater Cemetery with Bumpers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Robinson, 78, of Brightwater, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Willow Trace Nursing Center. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Gunnels Robinson of Brightwater; sons, Terry R. Robinson of Butler, Samuel E. Robinson III and his wife, Dinah, of Brightwater, and Sam J. "Bodie" Smith and his wife, Angie, of Clarksdale, Miss.; daughters, Virginia Graham and her husband, Jimmy, of Butler, Kay Boykin and her husband, W.D., of Gilbertown and Janet Kelley and her husband, Terry, of Gulf Shores; sisters, Betty Frances Roberts of Shubuta, Miss. and Daphna Gibson of Gilbertown; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Ruby Mosley Robinson Sr.

QUITMAN Services for J.P. Richardson Sr. will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Rickey Carlisle and Johnny Mosley officiating. Burial will be in Pachuta Cemetery.
Mr. Richardson, 85, of Pachuta, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Lakeside Living Center.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Richardson, sons, J.P. Richardson Jr. and Ronald Richardson, all of Pachuta; a brother, X.L. Richardson of Stonewall; a sister, Dorothy Touchstone of Contonment, Fla.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services for Johnny Lee "Pocketbook" Hearn will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Clark's Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willie D. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Cages Cemetery in Cuba, Ala.
Mr. Hearn, 63, of Meridian, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, in his home.
Survivors include his fiance, Glenda Faye Talbert of Meridian; sisters, Annie Hare and her husband, John Willie, Jessie Ruffin and her husband, Marvell, Corrine Hearn and her husband, Ruffin, all of Meridian, Della Sturdivant and her husband, James, of York, Ala.; brothers, Willie Hearn and his wife, Debra, of Southfield, Mich., Cleveland Hearn and his wife, Corrine, and Billy Ray Hearn, all of Meridian, and Bobby Hearn of Detroit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Bernice Hearn and five siblings.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Griffin, 102, of Newton, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Clarence Griffin and his wife, Sarah, of Newton; daughters, Norma Jean Griffin Hamrick and her husband, J.R., of Stonewall and Dorothy Elizabeth Griffin Williams and her husband, Don, of Meridian; a brother, L.D. Myers of Crystal Springs; a daughter-in-law, Opal Griffin of Enterprise; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Griffin; a son, Jack E. Griffin; grandchildren, George Hamrick and Timothy Griffin.
Pallbearers will be Keith Scott, Tyler Smith, Matthew Mayerhoff, Dewayne Hamrick, Kyle Hamrick and Justin Griffin.
Visitation will be today beginning at 5 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

Mr. John, 58, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, in his home.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Mae John; a daughter, Julie John; sons, Jamie John, Galen John, Richard John and Duane John; sisters, Jennie Jackson, Vannell Billy, Laurine Jackson and Ida John Sam, all of Philadelphia; and 20 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roby and Sally John.

Mrs. Thead, 59, of Hobbs, N.M., died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, in her home.
DADEVILLE, Ala. Memorial services for Dr. Edith Ann Miller will be held Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2:30 p.m. at Auburn First Baptist Church followed by a reception for friends and family. Alabama Funeral Homes and Cremation Centers is in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Miller died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Bethany House in Auburn. She was born in Meridian on June 1, 1940, the daughter of Harold Franklin Miller and Edna Dewees Miller. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees in English from the University of Southern Mississippi and a doctoral degree in educational psychology from the University of Georgia. She taught junior high English in Meridian.
In 1972, she joined the faculty of the Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership and Technology in Auburn's College of Education, where she earned promotion to the rank of full professor and remained until her retirement in 2001. A consummate teacher and scholar, Dr. Miller was named the College of Education's Teacher of the Year and earned recognition for her outstanding contribution to the college's graduate programs,
In 1998, she received the Auburn University Alumni Association's Award for Teaching Excellence. Over the years, Dr. Miller's students, colleagues and friends benefited greatly from her knowledge and wisdom, her keen sense of humor, her positive outlook, her kindness and her generosity. Throughout her career, she served as a dynamic model for the prospective and in-service teachers with whom she worked. Friends also richly benefited from her skill as a gourmet cook.
Survivors include her brother, Franklin D. Miller of Auburn; cousins, Paul F. Otte of Atlanta, John Miller Britt of Atlanta, Herbert Dewees of Oxford, Gerry Hamill of Atlanta and Geanie Walker of Acworth, Ga.; and a loving circle of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
