QUITMAN Fire Chief Mickey Long says all drivers for the Quitman Volunteer Fire Department will have emergency vehicle certification by this summer.
Long said it will cost between $200 and $300 to present the course, and about $15 a man for the training materials.
The aldermen voted 4-0 to approve the expenditure. Alderman Anntwinet McCarty was out of town.
In other matters, aldermen:
Heard a report on the ongoing review of the city's practices and procedures concerning police fines. Alderman Joe Poytress said a list of recommendations is being compiled and will be presented during the first board meeting in April;
Voted to approve a request for a road block on May 5 by the Quitman High School HOSA Club;
Advertised for bids for the park concession stand during the upcoming spring and summer baseball season;
Discussed a paving plan for several city streets. The project was put on hold until after the upcoming municipal elections; and
Adopted a Recreation Department policy that coaches receive National Coaching Standards Certification.
