The Elizabeth Lucas Courthouse Annex auditorium was filled to capacity Tuesday as proud friends and family members gathered for the swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected Franklin County Commission.
Norris Lewey, Gene Graham, Rayburn Massey and Jackie Bradford all took the oath of office administered by Probate Judge and Commission Chairman Mike Green.
The group tackled a full slate of business in the ensuing meeting, including approving this year’s holiday schedule and voting to continue meeting on the second Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m.
The commission approved the slate of 2004-2005 holidays, keeping a similar schedule as state holidays with the exception of working on Friday, Dec. 31, to allow for last-minute taxpayers. The county will instead be off on Monday, Jan. 3.
Also, the commission voted to appoint Jerry Groce to the Northwest Council of Local Governments, and voted to appoint Chris Ozbirn to another two-year term as director of the Franklin County Archives. The commission also voted to appoint Mary Mills and Beth Hammock to the Regional Library Board.
