Last Friday night's meet and greet event at Golden Tiger Stadium was a first for the Russellville football program.
The Russellville Booster Club sponsored the event, which drew a large crowd and featured autograph sessions with the players and coaches, free hot dogs and drinks, music and a performance by the varsity cheerleaders.
First-year head coach Doug Goodwin brought his team to event to allow them to have fun and meet the fans.
"I wanted them to come so the people in the community could meet the players and put faces to names. And hopefully the players had fun being here," Goodwin said.
Goodwin spent most of the evening underneath one of the courtesy tents, where he shook hands with fans who were eager to ask the new coach questions.
"Most people asked how I like it here in Russellville," Goodwin said. "I've enjoyed living here."
Russellville opens the season at Deshler on August 31.
