Mike Green Park receives state designation

BIRMINGHAM – The Mike Green Industrial Park in Franklin County is the third Alabama site to receive AdvantageSite designation.
The AdvantageSite program requires that community economic development organizations provide documentation specific to a proposed industrial site, including a set of standard data related to ownership/control, environmental and geotechnical conditions, as well as infrastructure status.
Sites must also meet size, zoning and accessibility requirements.
"Getting this designation was a priority for our office," said Mitch Mays, executive director of the Franklin County Development Authority. "There has been tremendous growth in northern Alabama and Mississippi, and we see this as a way to set ourselves apart. This tells prospective companies that we are serious, and have prepared to meet their needs."
"Interest in the AdvantageSite program from the local level continues to grow," said Greg Knighton, Economic Development Partnership of Alabama vice president and director of business information. "And we're finding, as the program sponsors work together with local applicants, that the state and regional-level economic developers are increasing their first-hand knowledge of local sites, which is important in selling the state to prospective industries."
The two other designated AdvantageSites are in Jackson and Marion Counties.
The voluntary industrial site preparedness program was created in order to make the state more competitive for companies considering a location in Alabama.
