Red Devils beat Belgreen in area action

VINA – The Vina baseball team's offense was strong Monday as the Red Devils topped Belgreen 16-1 in area play.
Vina led 6-0 heading into the fourth inning when Belgreen was able to manufacture a run when Trent Edwards hit a single to drive in a runner.
The Red Devils responded in the bottom of the fourth by sending 14 batters to the plate and scoring 10 runs.
The Bulldogs were unable to score in the fifth and the game ended.
Brent Townsend earned the win for Vina, pitching four innings and striking out nine Belgreen batters. Clay Pierce threw one inning of relief.
Matthew Hester led the Red Devils at the plate with a pair of doubles and a single while Channing Haithcock hit three singles and scored three runs.
Townsend singled, doubled and had three RBIs while Adam Pharr singled, doubled, scored four runs and had one RBI.
Also hitting for Vina were Patrick White with a triple and a single, Pierce with a single and an RBI and Morgan McCarley with a single.
