Knights looking for 2-0 start

West Lauderdale will be looking to get off to a rare 2-0 start Friday night when the Knights travel to Union.
West opened its 2001 season with a 30-21 win over Class 4A Florence. Union lost 27-8 in its season opener at Enterprise.
The Knights turned four Florence miscues into 24 points on the soggy turf at Collinsville.
McCain was impressed by what he saw of Union on film.
Blount completed 6-of-13 passes for 67 yards at Enterprise. Harris had 17 carries for 51 yards and three receptions for 24 yards.
Defensively, the Yellow Jackets got 16 tackles from Tony Warren and 10 from Lee Warren. Tony also had an interception with Lee getting a fumble recovery.
The Knights have won the last two games in the series, 34-20 in 1999 and 20-6 in 2000. Union, however, holds an 8-4-1 all-time lead.
Union first-year head coach Brad Breland knows his team faces a tough task with the 3A Knights.
Parten spent some of his younger days growing up in Union. In fact, he and Blount were on the same summer baseball team.
McCain was impressed with the Jackets' first game under the new head coach.
With Union being 1A and West being the largest 3A school in the state, depth should be a major ally of the Knights.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
