Neshoba drops MHS; West, NE girls win

Neshoba Central took advantage of 13 hits and five Meridian errors to hand the Lady Wildcats a 14-8 loss on Thursday night at Philadelphia.
The loss drops Meridian to 8-4 on the season.
The Rockets used a five-run fourth inning to take command of the game with a 12-3 lead. Meridian fought back getting four in the fifth to trim the gap to 13-7. Both teams added runs in their final at bat.
Meridian pitcher Laura Boyles suffered her first defeat on the year. She is now 5-1.
At the plate, Erin Murphy paced the Cats with three hits including a double. Stephanie Nelson had a double and a single. Carchena Blanks also had two hits which included a double. Ashley Brown and Boyles also had two hits. Raven Williams chipped in a double.
Samantha Giambrone paced Neshoba Central with three doubles. Lindsey Smith had two hits.
Meridian will play in the New Hope Tournament Saturday. The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to play four games.
West Lauderdale 11, Choctaw Central 6
West Lauderdale pounded out 18 hits in beating Choctaw Central 11-6 on Thursday night in Philadelphia.
The win lifts the Lady Knights to 12-1 on the season.
Haley Scarborough led the hit parade for West Lauderdale with four hits. J.J. Huggins belted an outside the park home run. She was then intentionally walked two times.
Courtney Godwin also had a hot bat cracking two triples to go with a double.
Getting two hits apiece were Jessica Etheridge, Brittany Mosley and Katie Moulds.
NE Lauderdale 18, South Jones 1
Northeast Lauderdale picked up a big divisional win on the road on Thursday night with a 18-1 romp past South Jones. The win improves Northeast to 14-1 on the season.
