While there's no playoff implications on the line when former Division 7-2A members Newton and Enterprise play Friday night at Enterprise, you can bet there'll be no love lost between the two either in their final tuneups before region play begins next week.
Kickoff at L.J. Davis Field is set for 7:30 p.m.
Lindsey had four receptions for 112 yards against Forest last week.
Considering Gartman's Bulldogs are 4-0, that's saying something. The wins have come against Union, South Leake, Kemper County, and Raleigh.
Newton comes in with a 2-2 mark with wins over Lake and Forest and losses to powerhouses Newton County and Ackerman.
Newton head coach Brad Peterson expects a tough game as well.
Senior linebacker Nicholas Robinson led the Newton defense last week with 14 tackles.
Kemper Academy at Wayne Academy
After a 33-6 loss last week the Kemper Academy Rams stand at 1-3. Last week's game was primarily a defensive struggle.
Friday night the Rams will be traveling to Wayne Academy to try and avenge last year's 41-7 loss and up their district record.
Led by head coach Gary Lee the Rams try to better last year's 5-5 record, but it doesn't look good so far.
The Rams have lost a lot of talented players from last year. Only two seniors can be spotted on the roster.
The Rams have pretty good size and speed. Friday night's game should be another tough defensive battle.
Kemper County at Noxubee County
Last year the Kemper County Wildcats were 0-10. This year they started out with a new desire to win and beat the cynics.
After four games the Wildcats stand at 0-4 with a 49-0 loss last week to Bay Springs. Led by head coach Undray Scott, the WIldcats will suit up Friday night and travel to Noxubee County.
The Wildcats run a heavy running game on offense. They try to mix it up a little also with a few passes.
Overall, the Wildcats have a soild team. Once they pull together, they may be able to win a few. It's still not too late to get in the playoffs.
Neshoba Central at Louisville
The Rockets travel to R.E. Hinze Stadium to take on one of their traditional opponents Friday night and the past hasn't been kind to Neshoba in the series as Louisville holds a commanding 21-5 advantage. Neshoba's last win was in 1993.
Both teams come in with 1-3 marks. Louisville defeated Region 2-4A opponent Aberdeen on the road last week, while the Rockets fell 24-10 to Class 3A power Newton County at home.
Quarterback/running back Gavin Grady leads the Rocket offense with 280 yards on 55 carries. Fullback Luke Smith has 212 yards on 51 rushes.
Philadelphia at Carthage
The Tornadoes square off with the Tigers for the first time since a 27-13 Philadelphia win in 1988.
Philadelphia jumped out to a 41-0 first half lead in spanking Choctaw Central 53-30 last week.
Kenshay Hunter leads Philadelphia, 3-1, on the ground with 343 yards on 36 carries. Orie Hudson is the top receiver with five receptions for 119 yards.
Carthage's offense is led by senior running back Raymond Youngblood, who had 39 carries for 209 yards in a 14-0 win over Scott Central earlier this season.
Newton Academy at Heidelberg Academy
Two teams with opposite starts collide at Heidelberg. The NCA Generals are 0-4, while Heidelberg is 3-1, losing only to powerful Simpson Academy.
Heidelberg holds a commanding 22-2 lead in the series with NCA's last win coming in 1992. The Rebels racked up a 56-0 victory in 2000.
Union at Sebastopol
Union found the win column last week with a 32-6 Region 3-1A win over Thomastown to improve to 1-3 and snap a six-game losing streak.
The Yellow Jackets will remain in region action the rest of the year, starting Friday at Sebastopol. The Bobcats have blanked Nanih Waiya (26-0) and Pisgah (33-0) in their last two outings.
Union holds an 8-5 series advantage with Sebastopol winning the last two games including a 9-8 squeaker in 2000.
Union quarterback Jody Blount has completed 19-of-54 passes for 294 yards with Derrick Harris hauling in 11 receptions for 165 yards.
In other North area games, Central Academy (0-4) is at Sylva-Bay (4-0), Choctaw Central (2-2) hosts Scott Central (1-3), Forest (0-4) is at Pearl (2-2), Lake (2-2) hosts Nanih Waiya (3-1), Leake Academy (2-2) visits Simpson Academy (4-0), Noxapater (0-4) at Thomastown (0-4), and Winston Academy (3-1) hosts Marshall Academy (2-1).
