MONTGOMERY, Ala. Services were held Oct. 2 from Brooks-Cargile Funeral Home for Orman Milton "Milt" Lawrence. The Rev. Billy Duncan officiated.
Mr. Lawrence, 74, died in Montgomery Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001. He was a former resident of Jackson, Miss.
His parents were John M. and Frances Jones Lawrence. The family were members of East End Methodist Church. He was a 1944 graduate of Meridian High School. He started in radio while in high school at WCOC. He served on active duty for the Army special services in Tokyo. He received one of the first broadcasting degrees granted by the University of Alabama.
His career spanned radio and television in Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. He later worked as a public relations coordinator for the State Department of Education and State Parks. He was a professional musician and performed on piano and organ.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; two daughters, Janet Snuggs and her husband, Mike, of Gautier, and Jill Hendrick and her husband, Roger, of Montgomery; a son, Jay Lawrence and his wife, Pam, of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Jeff Snuggs and his wife, Molly, of Jackson, Miss., Clay Snuggs and Caroline Snuggs, both of Gautier, and Holli Hendrick of Montgomery; five nephews, Andrew Hodges, John Holt Duncan and his wife, Karin, Jim Duncan and his wife, Jewell, Ed Duncan and his wife, Pat, and Neal Duncan; and a niece, Carol Parker and her husband, Paul.

NEWTON Services for Lizzie Viola Johnson will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel of Newton with the Rev. T.A. Sims officiating. Burial will be in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson, 86, of Newton County, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson.
She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church since 1929.
Survivors include a daughter, Elsie Hollingsworth and her husband, John, of Commerce, Ga.; three sons, Joe Johnson and his wife, Ollie, of Madison, and Charlie and Danny Johnson, both of Jackson; four grandchildren, Selena Johnson Harr, Randy Hollingsworth, Angela Hollingsworth Benton and Billy Hollingsworth; a great-grandchild, Andrew Harr; two sisters, Ruby Sims and her husband, T.A., of Ocean Springs and Ruth Loper and her husband, Durwood, of Decatur; two brothers, Dock Graham and his wife, Mae, of Decatur and Mike Graham and his wife, Peggy of Union; three sisters-in-law, Orell Graham, Euple Graham and Opal Graham; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 3 p.m.6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Tate, Reginald Thames, James Graham, Ricky Chaney, Derwood "Chunk" Munn and Eddy Chaney.
The family requests memorials be made to Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund and church construction fund.

Services for Shirley L. Davidson will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Rock Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Laird officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Davidson, 50, of Meridian, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Angela Chris Davidson and Shelby Davidson, a granddaughter, Chelsey Leigh Dew, her parents, Johnnie and Hattie Archie, a brother, Terry Wayne Archie, and a niece, Gabrielle Archie, all of the Meehan community.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Larry Giles, Bruce Brown, Toxie Overstreet, Ricky Horne, David Archie, Al Brewer and Bobby Jo Chamble.
ALLIED LATRAY RUSH
Services for Allied Latray Rush will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at E.E. McDonald Community Chapel with the Rev. LaMorris Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Russell with James L. Osby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rush, 22, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, in his home.
Survivors include his father, George Earl Stewart, his mother, Stella M. Rush, a son, Allied Latray Rush Jr., all of Meridian; two sisters, Kimberly Rock of Fredricksburg, Va., and Angela Rush of Meridian; a brother Shocobbee Rush, and a grandmother, Mary K. Rush, both of Meridian.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 p.m.7 p.m. at the community chapel.
