Boasting a full breakfast and lunch menu and available for private-party reservations seven nights a week, Cafe Latte is under new ownership and its staff is ready to serve.
Nate and Amanda Williamson re-opened the restaurant at 820 22nd Ave. on Oct. 8 for lunch; they added breakfast Monday. The Williamsons are leasing the building from David Purvis, who owned and operated Cafe Latte from May 1998 to April 2000.
The Williamsons moved back to Meridian from Starkville about a month ago. They wanted to be closer to family, and they wanted their 14-month-old daughter, Farrah, closer to her grandparents.
Nate Williamson had lived in Starkville since 1990; he owned the Cheers restaurant and bar from 1997 until he sold it in May. While operating the restaurant, Williamson met Amanda who was a student at Mississippi State University.
So far, Williamson said, business has been good.
Williamson is a Meridian native who played football at Meridian High. His father, Lester Williamson Sr., was a circuit court judge for 22 years; his brother, Lester Williamson Jr., now serves as a city judge in Meridian.
Williamson obtained a beer license, but he doesn't yet have a liquor license.
He said the restaurant can be reserved seven days a week for private parties, such as catered wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners or office Christmas parties.
Breakfast is served from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. The menu includes pastries, bagels, grits, eggs, hash browns, pancakes, omelettes, cereal, bacon, sausage and ham.
Lunch is served from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The menu includes sandwiches, pasta, salads, soups, bagels and quiche.
