The offensive-minded Lamar School Raiders head to Columbus for a final tune-up game before next week's clash with Manchester for the District 3-AAA championship.
Veteran Head Coach Mac Barnes says that the Heritage Patriots will provide his team with many of the same formations and alignments that Manchester will use.
The Raiders have been preparing for Manchester on the side for the past two weeks. The club is coming off a competitive 35-28 loss to AAAA foe Madison-Ridgeland Academy last week in Madison.
But the bright spot was the play of quarterback Drew Moffett and his corp of receivers. Moffett completed 20 of 47 passes for 278 yards.
Wide receiver Zac Moore caught nine balls for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Monroe Mayfield, playing out of an H-back role, caught seven for 57.
Heritage comes in with an 0-7 record. But they will not be a pushover for the Raiders.
One of the closs losses was to Oak Hill 15-13. That score right there is enough to concern Barnes.
Oak Hill just dominated us," he said.
But the Raiders are much better team now than they were four weeks ago.
