Services for John Mortimer Johnson will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Revs. Jason Gross and Billy Gunn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johnson, 93, of Meridian, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, in his home. He taught school in Neshoba and Lauderdale counties. Mr. Johnson served as principal of Suqualena High School and retired from West Lauderdale High School. He taught a total of 37 years.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, a deacon and Sunday school teacher, treasurer of Macedonia Baptist Church for 45 years, past master of Suqualena Masonic Lodge, past patron of Suqualena Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include his daughter, Annette Palmer and her husband, Randell, a son, Joe Johnson and his wife, Robin, all of Suqualena; grandchildren, Lloyd Palmer of Oklahoma City, Randy Palmer of Pascagoula, Greg Johnson of Hattiesburg and Sarah Johnson of Ashland, Wis.; two stepdaughters, Jane Townsend of Collinsville and Pat Bounds of Bay Minette, Ala.; sisters, Lurline Cook of Meridian, Lillian Rhodes of Philadelphia, Lucile Reeves and her husband, Bill, of Meridian, Sula Marsalis and her husband, Wilton, of Meridian; his care giver, Lena Culpepper; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Cora Thompson Johnson; his wife of 62 years, Pauline Johnson; his wife of seven years, Mildred Johnson; brothers, Lamar Johnson and Walter Martin Johnson; and a sister, Zula Williamson.
Pallbearers will be Greg Johnson, Lloyd Palmer, Randy Palmer, Kyle Palmer, Brett Palmer, Dr. Bo Marsalis, Gary Marsalis and Jimmy Chandler.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the senior men's Sunday school class at Macedonia Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside services for Linda Carol Drake were held Friday at Enondale Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Dalton officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Drake, 44, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at The Speciality Hospital of Meridian. She was a member of the Evangel Temple Assembly of God in Longview, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, John Drake and a son, Daniel Drake, both of Meridian; and a sister, Doris Hollyhand of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard C. Brantley and Verba Audeline Brantley; and a brother, Jessie Brantley.

Services for "Mama Jean" Sneed, will be held today at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jim Meadows and Jim Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Sneed, 75, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include her husband, John R. "Jack" Sneed of Meridian; two daughters, Angela S. Williams and Catherine S. Monsour and her husband, Charles, all of Meridian; a son, Bubba Sneed of Meridian; three sisters, Vera Duckworth of Columbia, Oleta Dazet of Jackson and Faye Mullins of Monticello; six grandchildren, Logan Williams, Raven Williams, Christian Monsour and his wife, Pennie, Scarlett Monsour and her fiance, Jerry Oltremari, Johnny Sneed and his wife, Michelle and Marshall Sneed; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and "a special daughter", Dona Mathis of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Skyler Sneed.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Oltremari, Gerald Wayne Thompson, Wayne Coleman, Gary Irby, Todd Mathis, Jimmy Hoffer, Bubber Wallace, Carl Wiggins, Logan Williams, Christian Monsour, Johnny Sneed and T.J. Aniel.

Graveside services for Mary Jon Martin will be held today at 3 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Martin, 78, of Meridian died Dec. 15, 1999, in Meridian.

Mr. Avery, 57, of Scooba, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie, La.
Survivors include his wife, Ivery D. Avery of Matairie; eight daughters, Helen Pippin and her husband, James, Adian Jackson, and Larinesha Richard, all of Scooba, Patricia Miner and her husband, Michael of West Point, Santra Metheny and her husband, Larry, of Macon, Connie Sterling and her husband, Leon, of Kenner, La., Shelita Smith of Metairie and Florence Clark and her husband, Larry, of DeKalb; five sons, Elijah Avery IV and his wife, Lisa, of Scooba, Peter Jackson Jr., Kenneth Jackson and Patrick Jackson and his wife, Tina, all of Metairie and Thaddeau Smith of Arrow, Colo.; 24 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Francis McCallum and Ruby Richardson and her husband, J.C., both of Scooba; a brother, Melvin Avery and his wife, Billino, of D'Lo; and several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
