The Question …
In the history of Mississippi State University women's basketball, the Lady Bulldogs have played 11 in-state four-year schools. MSU is winning six of those series (William Carey, Alcorn State, Mississippi Valley State, Jackson State, Belhaven and Blue Mountain) and losing five (Ole Miss, Delta State, Mississippi College, MUW and USM) of them. Name the teams State has beat the most and the fewest times and has lost to the most and the fewest times?

MIAMI, FL. Torrance Marchall and top-ranked Oklahoma made their statement real early. Marshall earned the MVP award for leading a defense that denied No. 3 Florida State a share of its second straight national title, and the Sooners seized the top prize with a 13-2 win Wednesday night.
FOREST It didn't take long into the new year to break out the whipping sticks in the girls' division of the Central Mississippi Classic. In Wednesday's first-round action, Meridian won by 35 points, Scott Central won by 16, and Forest rolled to a 23-point victory.

With Central of Macon being a Class A academy, you couldn't exactly classify the Lamar School girls as giant killers. But the Lady Raiders still can take pride in their 46-35 win over the Lady Vikings Friday night. The loss was Central's first of the season after opening the year 19-0.
JACKSON The Meridian High school basketball teams dropped their division openers to Murrah Friday night. The Meridian girls dropped a 61-48 decision, while the boys fell 87-51.

Steve Hull knows basketball points aren't awarded on speed and glamour. So it came to no one's surprise that West Lauderdale used a slow and methodical approach against Kemper County in the semifinals of the Frazier-Yarbrough Mermorial Coca-Cola Classic at Meridian High Friday night. But in the end, the unbeaten Wildcats stayed that way, edging the Knights 50-47 to advance to the finals against Meridian.
After a sluggish return from their Christmas holiday break, the Union Yellowjackets got back into the swing of things and took a convincing win over county rival Newton County High School Friday night. The Yellowjackets, after struggling in the first quarter, beat the Cougars 71-53 in the second night of the Newton County Tournament.

The Answer …
Mississippi State has beaten Mississippi College and USM 12 times each, but trail the MC series 14-12 and the USM series 18-12. MSU has never beat Delta State, trailing the series 12-0. The Lady Bulldogs have lost to Ole Miss 53 times, while winning just seven games. MSU has lost to William Carey, Belhaven and Blue Mountain just once each, leading those series 9-1, 9-1 and 3-1 respectively.
