BYERS, Colo. Aviation investigators said Monday they have no evidence that engine failure caused a plane used by Oklahoma State University to crash into a field, killing all 10 on board. Investigators also said that small pieces of the plane had fallen to the ground before the crash, but the cause remained unknown. The victims, including two Oklahoma State basketball players and six employees, were killed Saturday when the twin-engine plane went down in a field about 40 miles east of Denver.
BEREA, Ohio Butch Davis, who brought Miami's program back from ruin, resigned from the school Monday to coach the Cleveland Browns. Davis, who led the Hurricanes to a No. 2 ranking last season, will be introduced Tuesday at the club's suburban training facility, Browns president Carmen Policy said. Davis has been rumored to be on Cleveland's wish list since the team fired Palmer last month.

While the country as a whole is having some problems, the state of Union is pretty good. Especially when in the hands of Des Bobbett. The senior guard for the Yellowjackets, who reached the 2,000-point mark for his career Friday night, received another honor Wednesday. Bobbett is one of eight players in the South Mississippi region to be nominated for the McDonald's All-America Basketball team.
For the first time ever, the Meridian High School Wildcats' soccer team is on its way to the state playoffs. The Wildcats clinched a playoff bid Wednesday afternoon with a convincing 4-1 division win over Pearl at Ray Stadium, and now have their eyes set on the division title.
