The bowling state tournament is back in Meridian this weekend.
Dixie Bowl Lanes will host the state tournament starting today at 9 a.m. and will continue for six consecutive weekends and end up on June 9.
Bowlers will be able to bowl at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for the next six weekends to compete to win the state tournament.
The state tournament usually alternates between cities in the north of the state and cities in the south. Usually the tournament only goes to a city once in a span of four years. Cities bid to host the tournament and this year Meridian came out on top and gets to host the tournament.
Bowlers will be able to compete in team, doubles and singles events. From 275 to 300 teams are expected to pack into Dixie Bowl to compete for first place. The tournament will pay 1-out-of-8.
Bowlers that want to compete should have entered before the closing deadline. If you did not enter before the deadline, you will only be allowed to sub on a team.
If a bowler is entered before the closing date, they will be allowed to re-enter into the tournament. If someone is unhappy with their bowling performance on the first day of the tournament or just want to bowl again, they will be allowed to re-enter on a lane available basis. If bowlers re-enter in the doubles event they must also re-enter the singles event.
There is no charge to come and view the great bowling action. If you want to see some competitive bowling action, Dixie Bowl is the place to watch it.
