The Nelson team of Joel and Steve shot a 15-under, 129 to claim the Rush Boy Scouts Benefit Golf Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Briarwood Country Club.
The team of Tony Polizzi and Colton Tisdale finished second with a 12-under 132 (67-65), while Randy Warren and Tom Warden were third at 134 (67-67).
The Nelson's shot a seven-under 65 on Saturday to gain a share of the lead with the Polizzi-Tisdale team. Playing near error-free on Sunday, delivered the tournament title.
This was the first time the Nelsons have won the Boy Scouts Tournament.
Golfers had to fight through a Saturday shower, but Joel Nelson said that just made the Briarwood course play better.
Polizzi and Tisdale shot a 67 on Sunday to card their 132. Robert Sanford and Jack Combest were fourth at 135 (71-64).
Mac Barnes and Benji Baskin shot a 137 (70-67) to place fifth. Dan Kerr and Billy McWilliams were sixth at 138 (71-67) and Alex Weddington and David Ray were seventh at 140 (69-71).
Drew and David Rosenbaum shot an even-par 144 to take the first flight. Joe Mabry and Robert Fraziar shot a 151 to take the second flight and Mike McNair and Kevin Stone won the third flight with a 155.
The tournament raised nearly $15,000 for the area boy scouts.
