The father and son team of Stan and Charlie Lockley teamed up to take first place in the Meridian firefighters Take-a-Kid Fishing Tourney. This duo caught a limit of bass weighing 11.40 pounds easily outdistancing the rest of the field. Stan also caught the lunker of the tourney a 6.24-pounder on his favorite June bug colored worm.
The Lockleys had not pre-fished the lake prior to this tournament, preferring to fish old traditional "holes" on the day of the tourney in order to keep from giving the fish a good case of the sore mouth. That strategy proved successful as they took not only first place but also the lunker pot for the day.
First place was worth $1,000.00. Second place went to the team of David Everett and Josh Rigdon with another limit of bass weighing 8.84 pounds. Third place went to the team of Clay Howse and Jeffrey Manley with yet another limit of bass weighing 8.34 pounds. Fourth place was claimed by Tim and Mitchell Fox. Fifth place was awarded to Mike and Cody Williams.
First place in the youth lunker category went to Blake Page. Second place in the youth lunker competition went to Jeremiah Lovett.
The remaining money winners are as follows:
6th: Victor and Clay Booth
7th: Stephen McMullen, Blake Page and Brandon Chisolm

10th: Bruce and Morgan Roberts
11th: Ronnie Fairchild and Jon Parker
