A candidate for the Mississippi Court of Appeals didn't mince words in commenting about the courts and the crime problem to a gathering of Lauderdale County sheriff's deputies.
Griffis, 41, a Meridian native, is challenging incumbent Appeals Court Judge James Brantley of Walnut Grove in the Nov. 5 election. Griffis lives in Ridgeland.
Brantley could not be reached for comment.
Griffis, in town while campaigning in East Mississippi, was introduced Friday by Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department Maj. Ward Calhoun.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie added that Brantley also was welcome to speak to his deputies when he visits the area.
Griffis told sheriff's deputies that he believes law enforcement needs clear decisions from judges saying what the law is not a moving target with various messages.
