LIVINGSTON, Ala. A court hearing is set for Tuesday in the case of a Oakman, Ala., man accused of striking two Butler residents with his car near the University of West Alabama late last month.
James Ellis Ford, 22, has been indicted for murder, vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence, Sumter County Circuit Clerk Odessa Mack said.
Police claim that Ford hit Chadwick Langford and Joanna Greene with his car at about 2 a.m. on Sept. 20 near the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity house.
Langford, 29, died after being rushed to a York hospital. Greene, 26, died Sept. 23 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. On Sept. 25, the Sumter County grand jury handed down its indictments.
Ford remains free on a $101,500 bond. Ford posted a $71,500 bond after the accident. On Monday, Sheriff Johnny Hatter said Ford posted a $30,000 bond on the indictments.
