This week is my birthday.
On Wednesday, I am going to be 31. I am not afraid to tell you my real age because I am proud of it.
I don't know what happened to me last year, but since I turned 30, I have had a blast.
I know I have told you this before, but I feel the thirties are the new twenties. I stand by that idea.
My husband can agree. Since Jimmy turned 30 a few weeks ago, he said he feels different but in a good way.
I guess I felt that my twenties were the time for making mistakes and learning big lessons. It was a time for learning to get it right. I am not saying I won't make mistakes. I will. Lots of them. But, I hope that I have learned enough in my twenties to be able to say I am okay with my mistakes because I learned from them.
Now that I am officially thirty-something, I plan to enjoy it. My kids are in school and it doesn't look like there are any more on the way so I plan to enjoy my boys being older.
I plan to try not to sweat the small stuff so much. I tend to get a little angry over the smallest things. I hope to change that, not that anger is bad. You need to pick when you should blow some stuff off.
I also plan to get in better shape. I have to admit I am getting a trainer to help with that.
So maybe by the time I am writing this column for age 32, I will be fit as a fiddle, or at least able to be able to keep up with the SRT team next time they hold tryouts.
All in all, being thirty isn't so bad. You just have to know when to relax and enjoy it.
