Rally falls short for PC girls

Ciara Harville recorded her third double-double in six games since moving up to the Phil Campbell varsity girls basketball team, but the Lady Bobcats fell to Shoals Christian 48-47 on a late free throw.
After rallying from a 19-9 deficit at the end of the first quarter, Jessica Taylor tied the game at 47-47 will less than 15 seconds to play. Shoals Christian drew a foul in the closing seconds and hit one of the two free throws to seal the win.
Harville scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the loss while Taylor had 14 points and seven rebounds. Also scoring for the Lady Bobcats were Whitley Yocum with 10 points, Tiffany Miller (2), Lindsey Jackson (2), and Tatum Benford (2).
Belgreen 62,
Colbert Heights 41
The Belgreen varsity girls jumped out to a 24-6 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in its 62-41 victory at Colbert Heights.
Martha Billingham led the Lady Bulldogs with 19 points while Loren McVicker added 11 points.
Also scoring for Belgreen were Katy Britton (8), Deborah Billingham (6), Alivia Holcomb (4), Lydia DeVaney (4), Erica Smith (3), Anna DeVaney (2), Kristi O'Dell (2), Elizabeth Landers (1), Sara McMahan (1) and Brittany Simmons (1).
Phil Campbell 83,
Shoals Christian 52
The Phil Campbell boys built a commanding 23-point lead at halftime and cruised to an 83-52 victory at Shoals Christian Thursday.
Adam Mitchell scored a career-high 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the victory. Three other Bobcats reached double-digit scoring – Lawrence Butts with 19 points, Pablo Santiago with 16 points and Jordan Benford with 11 points. Also scoring for Phil Campbell were Matt Waid (9) and Bailey Welborn (4).
Colbert Heights 69,
Belgreen 35
The Belgreen offense struggled in the second half, scoring only 14 points during the Bulldogs 69-35 loss to Colbert Heights.
Sam Presley led Belgreen with 11 points while Spencer Hargett added 10.
Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Jacob Green (4), Brandon Hester (4), Ben Brittnell (2), Taylor Hester (2) and Will Hester (2).
