Oudia Green
June 5, 2010
On Saturday June 5, 2010 Ouida Rogers Green, Age 87, crossed over the Jordan River into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ.
She was met on the other side by her husband Earl Robert Green and her granddaughter Sarah Rebekah Thomason. Also there to greet her were her brothers Haskell Morgan Rogers, William Riley Rogers, and Ollie Benton Rogers. Welcoming her to the City Built Four Square were her sisters Elizabeth Fannie Willis, Lucy Daniel, Mable Suddith, Mildred Thornton, Martha Louise Kimbrough, and Augustine Pounders. Her parents (Bud) Riley Goodlow Rogers and (Ma) Mary Lula King Rogers had been waiting patiently for her to join the Heavenly Host.
She has many family members left on this side of the river including her daughters Joan Allen who is married to Doug Allen and Rebecca Green Thomason who is married to Robert Thomason. Her brother Ike Rogers will be celebrating her life along with her grandchildren Mark Aycock, Paul Aycock, Robert Kingsley, James Kingsley, John Isaac Thomason and Hannah Grace Thomason and her great- grandchildren Kelsey Aycock, Haley Aycock, Daniel Aycock, Madison Hand and, Jonah Kingsley. However, great-grandchildren Angel Kingsley, Brandice Kingsley, Jaden Kingsley, James Kingsley, Joanna Kingsley, Bailey Kingsley, Abigail Kingsley and great-great granddaughters Zoe Kingsley and Kaddie Kingsley will be remembering her from their homes in Virginia and Ohio.
The celebration will be held at Tharptown Baptist Church on Tuesday the eighth day of June at 11 am. Everyone is invited to visit with friends and the family including many of Ouida’s cousins, nieces and nephews who will be at the church at 10 am. to discuss her life, death, illness, politics, oil spills, and other things of importance in this world. Clinton Busler and Josh Miller will be officiating at this event.
We will be remembering that Ouida attended Pleasant Ridge Grammar School and Russellville High School where she was often called by her first name John. Ouida was proud of receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree and her Master’s degree from the University of North Alabama. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, politics and standing up for her beliefs. Her mother was a Democrat and her father a Republican so she voted a split ballot. She was a life-long member of Tharptown Baptist church and also attended Russellville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed people and gave her time and heart to many of them by being a faithful member of Civitans, a foster parent, teacher, volunteer, and a hard worker at everything she put her hand to.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice and the caring staff of Terrace Manor who made her last eighteen month in this life so comfortable. The family also appreciates the residents and staff of Southern Manor for all of the consideration and friendship shown to her. Thanks too for Spry Funeral Home who took care of her well worn body. Isn’t God wonderful? He has given her a new body which sheds no tears, has no pain and can bear up under Ouida’s demanding energy.
