Area softball game ends in rain out at Belgreen

BELGREEN — The Tharptown Lady Wildcats looked to rebound from the loss with Phil Campbell against Belgreen on Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs looked to stay unbeaten in region play in the 2012 season.

Neither team would get a chance to complete its goal on the day, as the weather had other plans for the event.

The game had reached the fourth inning by the time lightning shortened the game.

The Lady Wildcats were leading 1-0 when the game was called, thanks to an RBI single by Brae Sellers in the top of the first.

The Lady Bulldogs had two runners on base with only one out in the bottom of the third but were again unable to score any runs.

It is a region game for the teams, making it important to finish the last three and a half innings.

The game will resume today at 10 a.m. at Belgreen and pick up where the action left off.
