New business tax workshop offered

Starting a new business and have tax questions? Mark your calendar and attend the Alabama Department of Revenue’s free New Business Workshop scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. in Florence.

The workshop will be held at the Shoals Chamber of Commerce, Shoals Center for Business and Economic Development, located at 20 Hightower Place in Florence.

The free workshop will cover a variety of tax information topics, including employer withholding taxes, state and local sales taxes, property taxes, and business licensing requirements.  An overview of Alabama’s business tax electronic filing programs will also be presented.

ADOR presenters will also provide workshop participants with information about Alabama’s new ONE SPOT, a free Internet filing and payment portal that allows business taxpayers to file and pay state, county, and city sales, use, and rental taxes all in one place.

Representatives from the University of North Alabama’s Small Business Development Center—Procurement and Technical Assistance Center (SBDC-PTAC) will also participate in the workshop and provide participants with information related to services and assistance offered by the SBDC-PTAC.

For more information concerning the New Business Workshop, visit the department’s Web site at www.revenue.alabama.gov or call (256) 383-4631, ext. 225.
