Johnnie Monroe Wilson, 97, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at ECM Hospital.

Mr. Wilson was a native of Eutaw, but had lived in this area for many years.  He was a member and active deacon of SouthsideBaptistChurch.  He was retired from the Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service and was WWII veteran of the U.S. Army.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with entombment in Franklin Memory Mausoleum.  Officiating will be Daniel Welborn and Jim Johnson.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 18, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Wilson; children, Peggy Vernon and husband, Raymond, Russellville, Johnnie Wilson and wife, Donna, Haleyville, Jimmie Wilson and wife, Shirley, Jacksonville, Fla., and David Jennings and wife, Janet, Hackleburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary bearers will be deacons of SouthsideBaptistChurch.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mamie P. Wilson; parents, Jim and Katie Bell Wilson; four sisters; three brothers; granddaughters, Angela Vernon and Christy Jennings; grandsons, Paul Jennings and Danny Jennings.
