A Look Ahead

Phil Campbell at Phillips

Last year: Phil Campbell won 35-20

Record: 1-4 (0-3)

Phil Campbell coach Ryan Swinney: “We are suffering through some injuries right now. We have two players who are hurt and one (Caleb Hagood) lost for the year in an injury suffered against Sheffield. Phillips has improved a lot since the beginning of the year. They got a couple of guys back that they didn’t have when the season opened. They will get after you and have some good speed.”

Tharptown hosts Lynn (Homecoming)

Last year: Lynn won 24-14

Record: 1-3 (1-1)

Tharptown coach Kevin Lacey: “We had an off week, and we should be fresh and ready to play again. Lynn is a big and physical team. They will be a big challenge for us. We need to have a solid week of practice and be mentally and physically ready to play on Friday night.”

Vina hosts Meek

Last year: Meek won 46-12

Record: 0-4 (0-3)

Vina coach Jason Harris: “Meek is big and physical. They like to run the Wing-T and come right at you. We’ve got a lot of kids hurt right now, but we are going to work hard this week and do the best we can with what we’ve got. Meek is going to be one of the tougher teams we play this year.”

Russellville at Hartselle

Last year: Hartselle won 45-38

Record: 0-3 (0-2)

Russellville coach Mark Heaton: “We have gotten better every week as a football team. We are starting to see a lot of bright spots and better execution earlier in the games. We just need to continue to focus on better execution on a daily basis.

“Hartselle is a great football team. They are very well-coached. They are very physical and very disciplined.”
