Belgreen girls grab easy wins

The Belgreen Bulldogs improved to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in their area with an easy area win over Hackleburg and other easy wins over Fayette County and Carbon Hill. The Bulldogs’ lone loss last week came at Phil Campbell.

Belgreen pounced on Hackleburg early, outscoring the Panthers 22-2 in the first quarter. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 31-8 by halftime and easily cruised to the area win in the second half.

Gabbie Moore and Emma Dempsey led Belgreen with 13 and 12 points. Katie Dempsey added eight points, Gracie Dempsey seven points, Camie Terrell five points, Emma Willingham four points, Autumn Bragwell three points, Jasmine Martin two points and Ansley Tate two points.

Belgreen 58, Fayette County 24

The Dempsey sisters led the way for the Belgreen Bulldogs last week in an easy 58-24 win over the Fayette County Tigers. Emma Dempsey led Belgreen with 13 points. Gracie and Katie Dempsey followed with 10 points each.

Belgreen scored 41 points in the first half to take a big lead and cruise to an easy victory.

Terrell (7), Willingham (4), Moore (4), Megan Smith (2) and Tate (2) also scored for Belgreen.

Belgreen 70, Carbon Hill 49

Moore scored 22 points to lead the Belgreen Bulldogs past the Carbon Hill Bulldogs 70-49 last week.  Belgreen fell behind early to Carbon Hill but was able to climb back into the game in the second quarter and go on to the win.

Emma Dempsey and Tate scored 11 points and 10 points, respectively. Bragwell added six points, Gracie Dempsey two points, Smith two points and Martin one point.
