Belgreen gets pair of wins for Homecoming

The Belgreen Bulldogs swept the Vina Red Devils on Homecoming night with wins in the varsity boys and girls games.

Varsity girls senior standout Noelle Willingham was crowned Belgreen’s 2022 Homecoming Queen.

In the varsity boys games, Braycen Johnson and Austin James combined for 41 points in a 63-26 win. Johnson led with 23 points, including 11 of the Bulldogs’ 22 firstquarter points.

Belgreen led 22-11 at the end of the first and 33-16 at halftime.

James scored 18 points, including 10 of the Belgreen’s 16 thirdquarter points, to push the lead to 49-22.

Will King followed Johnson and James with nine points. Ely Mitchell, Landon Cox and Hunter Woodruff scored four points each. Miguel Willingham finished with two points.

Nate Stidham led Vina with 10 points. He was followed by Hunter Griffith with nine points, Conner Davidson with four points, Christian Purser with three points and Grayson Ridge with three points.

In the varsity girls game, Belgreen beat Vina 62-34.

Bryn Scott led the Bulldogs with 22 points, making five three-pointers.

Dacota Green and Noelle Willingham also scored in double figures, dropping 16 points and 13 points respectively.

Alayna Tate added five points. Isabella Tate, Makenna Fisher and Carson Hovater scored two points each.

Sara Harper led Vina with 13 points. Kaitlyn Athey added six points, Kaley Attaway five points, Khylee Brooks five points, Mikala Mitchell four points and Harleigh Ridge one point.

Belgreen’s varsity girls also beat Shoals Christian this past week, 48-36.

Scott led the Bulldogs with 13 points, followed by Green with 12 points and Noelle Willingham with 10 points.

Hovater added eight points, Alayna Tate three points and Isabella Tate two points.
