RMS tennis wins second-straight sweep

March 15 was a good day of tennis for the Russellville Middle School girls team, as the young Golden Tigers achieved their second-straight 9-0 sweep – this time against Deshler.

Match 1 brought the perfect 9-0 victory for RMS, with the following scores.

Doubles:

  • Anna Woods/Callie Palmer won 8-2.
  • Katie Burns/Ellyse Strickland won 8-0.
  • Olivia Hood/Kaydee Holland won 8-2.

Singles:

  • Anna Woods won 8-2.
  • Katie Burns won 8-4.
  • Ellyse Strickland won 8-1.
  • Callie Palmer won 8-1.
  • Olivia Hood won 8-0.
  • Kaydee Holland won 8-2.

Match 2 was also a solid success for the RMS girls, with a final score of 8-1.

Doubles:

  • Anna Woods/Callie Palmer lost 3-6.
  • Katie Burns/Ellyse Strickland won 6-0 and are 6-0 as doubles partners on the season.
  • Julianna Wallace/Ava Oliver won 6-2.

Singles:

  • Anna Woods won 6-4.
  • Katie Burns won 6-0.
  • Ellyse Strickland won 6-1.
  • Callie Palmer won 6-0.
  • Ava Oliver won 6-4.
  • Julianna Wallace won 6-1.

The Deshler victory brings the RMS girls’ season record to 4-2.
