RHS teacher grabs leadership award nomination

Mike Powell, career technical coordinator with Russellville City Schools, was recently recognized at the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools Convention in Mobile as a nominee for the CLAS Leadership Award.

Powell, who is currently serving as president of the Association for Career Tech Administrators, was previously selected to serve on the CLAS board of directors in July 2016.

CLAS is composed of ten affiliate organizations, including ACTA, and each group has a leadership award winner who is nominated for the award. The award winners are chosen for their job performance, participation in professional organizations, advocacy for public education and community involvement.

Powell was chosen as the winner/nominee from ACTA.

Powell has been with Russellville City Schools for 30 years.
