Belgreen wins Cherokee tournament

The Belgreen Bulldogs continued their hot streak, winning the Jenna Memorial Invitational Tournament at Cherokee High School Saturday.  

The is the second straight year for the Bulldogs to win this tournament. The Bulldogs got wins over Colbert Heights, Tharptown and Mars Hill in pool play before scoring wins over Cherokee and Covenant Christian in bracket play to win the tournament.

Some of the highlights of the tournament included Sydney Borden’s eight aces and 12 consecutive serves; Katie Dempsey’s seven aces and 12 kills; Emma Dempsey’s six aces and 33 kills in five matches; and Gracie Dempsey’s 10 consecutive serves and 24 digs.

Ansley Tate had 34 assists and 28 kills in the five tournament matches.

Autumn Bragwell had 36 assists, Bailey Wood had 26 digs, and Kaley Chandler had 11 digs.
