The Belgreen Bulldogs dominated the Haleyville Lions in the opening game of the Bracy Invitational last week, 55-30.

Belgreen hit six three-pointers in the game.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 19-8 first-quarter lead and led 29-18 at the half. Belgreen increased that lead to 43-24 in the third quarter and cruised to the win.

Will Bonner led Belgreen with 17 points. Collin Bonner and Isac Willingham scored 11 points each.

The win followed a loss to Lindsey Lane.

Will and Collin Bonner combined for 50 of Belgreen’s 70 points in a 75-70 loss to Lindsey Lane in the second round of the Bracy Invitational last week.

Belgreen trailed Lindsey Lane 39-39 at the half. Will Bonner scored 24 of his game-high 28 points in the second half to help lead a Belgreen resurgence.

The Bulldogs took a 55-54 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Belgreen had no answer for Lindsey Lane’s Tommy Murr. Murr scored 44 points in the game.

Collin Bonner finished the game with 22 points. Isac Willingham added 10 points, eight of which came in the first half.

GIRLS

The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs fell to the Haleyville Lions last week 58-52.

Belgreen jumped out to a 16-7 first quarter lead, but Haleyville stormed back in the second quarter. The Lions cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 28-21 at halftime.

Haleyville dominated the third quarter 22-8 to take a 43-36 lead.

Emma Dempsey led Belgreen with 17 points. Ansley Tate added 14 points.

Autumn Bragwell finished the game with eight points. Gracie Dempsey had six points, Kaley Chandler with three points, Noelle Willingham with two points and Dakota Green with two points.
