ICC announces successes by two from FC

Itawamba Community College, just over the state line in Mississippi, is a popular choice for higher education among Franklin County students, especially those in the western half of the county. Recently ICC has noted two from Franklin County who are making a name for themselves at the school.

The work of several students will be featured in “The Calliope,” ICC’s art and poetry journal – among them, Mary Moore of Red Bay. Moore, who is well-known locally from her participation in Bay Tree Council for the Performing Arts productions as well as other involvement, wrote a piece titled “The Clocks Have Died.”

In Phi Theta Kappa news at ICC, the society’s two chapters were recognized recently at the first-ever virtual PTK Catalyst event as two of Top 100 Chapters of the more than 1,250 chapters internationally. A Vina native, Jay Humphries, who is a member of the Upsilon Sigma chapter, was among the individual award-winners, receiving the Horizon Award for Advisors.
