Red Bay grabs two county wins

After falling short in the Franklin County Tournament the previous weekend, the Red Bay Tiger girls redeemed themselves with big wins over rivals Belgreen and Tharptown. The Tigers beat Belgreen 12-1 and Tharptown 8-4.

Red Bay took an early 3-1 lead after the first inning and put the game away in a nine-run third inning.

Lila Blackburn pitched a gem, going three innings and giving up two hits and one run.

Blackburn also got the job done at the plate with a homerun and a double, three RBIs. Annaliese Rogers had a hit and two RBIs and scored a run. Chloe Knoblock had two hits and scored three runs. Georgia Inman had two hits and scored twice. Sarah Eaton racked up three hits, including a double, and two RBIs.

Blackburn also had a big game in the Tigers’ 8-4 win over the Tharptown Wildcats. She had four hits, including a double, three RBIs, and she scored two runs.

Red Bay led Tharptown 4-0 after four complete innings. Both teams picked up a run each in the fifth inning.  Red Bay added three runs in the top of the sixth inning, and Tharptown added three runs in the final inning of play.

Rogers, Knoblock and Emily McCollister each had a two-hit game.

Knoblock pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits and striking out six.

Taylor Cameron had two hits, including a double, and scored a run for Tharptown.
