RCS music department hosts second annual show choir camp

Russellville City Schools is preparing the next generation of show choir enthusiasts as it hosts its second annual Spring Sing Show Choir Camp May 3-4.

The show choir camp is open for kindergarten through fifth grade for $25 each and $10 for each sibling.

“This is something we have done before that we had a lot of people interested in,” said RCS choral director Emily Rush. “It should be a lot of fun.”

Students will go to the Russellville Fine Arts Building after school until 4:30 p.m. each day of camp to learn a song and dance.

“It will be similar to a mini cheer camp, where they come to us, have a snack and learn the material,” Rush said.

Campers will have the opportunity to perform the opening number at the Russellville Spring Sing May 6.

“The theme this year is ‘Gone Country,’ which we are really excited for,” Rush said. “The kids from the camp are going to be opening the show, so they will get the chance to perform on stage in front of a big group.”

This is the second time RCS has hosted a show choir camp. Rush said there was supposed to be one last year, but it was cancelled because of COVID-19.

Registration is due by April 22. For more information, contact Rush at Russellville High School.
