The Russellville High School construction project remains ongoing; however, Russellville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Heath Grimes reported during the March 24 Board of Education meeting that it is expected to be finished in time for students to begin using the new facilities in the fall.

The project was originally expected to be complete in December 2021, then in February 2022.

“We didn’t say a whole lot about those targets being missed because we didn’t expect them to actually be finished by that point,” explained Grimes. “Construction of this magnitude always has significant delays.”

Grimes said after going through the school recently and meeting with the architect, the most recently estimated completion date for the project, this May, is still in place.

“Progress is being made. Things are really moving along, and we can’t wait for our staff and students to be able to start using this new building,” Grimes said. “It will provide more comfort as well as more effective educational opportunities.”

Grimes described the project as “the smoothest and most on-schedule and in-budget” of the several school projects he has seen during his career, explaining the contractor and architect have been “great to work with” and “have done a really good job.”

“They report feeling very confident in a May completion date.”
