Red Bay dominates in home opener

The Red Bay Tigers christened their new turf field with a win over the Sheffield Bulldogs 50-6. The Tigers, led by Jaxon Vinson’s four touchdowns and 190 rush yards, scored five unanswered touchdowns before the Bulldogs could get on the board.

The Tigers first score was on a five-yard run by Vinson. Red Bay followed up with a 26-yard run by Keeton Lanphear. The Tigers scored three more times before Sheffield could even sniff the end zone. Vinson scored on runs of 11, 35, and 14.

Sheffield finally scored late in the game but the Tigers responded with two more touchdowns on an 18-yard run by Lanphear and a 2-yard run by Cody Carnes. Lanphear scored two touchdowns and ran for 98 yards. Carnes had a touchdown and ran for 78 yards.

As a team, Red Bay ran for 396 yards. Gage Edgmon threw only two passes but completed both for a total of 50 yards.Will West led the defense with 10 tackles. Vinson added nine tackles, Holden Inman with eight tackles, and Kyler Watson with seven tackles.

The defense held Sheffield to 154 total yards on the night. Red Bay will travel to Hackleburg Friday night.
