Two year plea sentence accepted in drug case

A Franklin County man pleaded guilty to drug charges on Tuesday just before his criminal was set to begin.

Michael Iley Loveless, 52, 4114 U.S. 43, Phil Campbell, pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and received a two-year consecutive sentence that will be suspended for two years, Assistant District Attorney Doug Evans said.

According to reports, Loveless was first arrested in January of 2009 when he was under investigation for manufacturing methamphetamine.

When investigators went to Loveless’ residence, they discovered a burn pile next to the driveway that contained what appeared to be a crystal substance inside a plastic bag.

While investigators questioned Loveless about the burn pile, an active meth lab was discovered in the pickup truck of one of Loveless’ roommates.

Evans said if Loveless violates any of the terms of the plea agreement, he will be ordered to serve the entire two-year sentence.
