Altercation leads to stabbing

A Russellville man is behind bars after allegedly stabbing another man multiple times during an altercation that took place Saturday afternoon.
Charles David Tate, 53, 1211 N. Jackson Ave., Russellville, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.
According to Hargett, patrol units responded to a residence on Jackson Avenue after receiving a call that a fight had taken place at the residence and that an individual had been stabbed multiple times.
Hargett said when officers arrived at the residence, Tate and the victim were still on the scene and medical personnel were dispatched because of the severity of the wounds.
Hargett said the male victim had been stabbed four times in the abdomen by an 8-inch filet knife and was transferred to Russellville Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for internal injuries sustained from the wounds.
At press time, the victim was in stable condition at Russellville Hospital.
Hargett said Tate was taken into custody at the scene.
Officers said the cause of the argument appeared to be related to alcohol and money.
Tate is in custody at the Franklin County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
First-degree assault is a Class B felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison if convicted.
