Lady Bobcats down Lady Bulldogs

PHIL CAMPBELL — The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs’ multiple-game winning streak came to an end against the Phil Campbell Lady Bobcats Monday evening.

The Lady Bobcats had control of the game from start to finish, as Phil Campbell picked up a 6-0 win at home.

“Phil Campbell has a good team,” Belgreen head coach Ritchie Hester said. “We didn’t get after them, and we didn’t execute. We got three runners out on third.

We play a lot of small ball, and we have to execute to do that.”

Whitley Yocom started the scoring off for the Lady Bobcats with an RBI double in the bottom of the first.

Korina Jimenez added another run for Phil Campbell in the second when she laid down a bunt. The throw to first was high, allowing Sarah Hester to take third then home.

Jimenez replicated the feat in the bottom of the fourth, except this time it was a single that scored Hester.

The Lady Bobcats scored their final two runs in the sixth. Hester hit a triple and was brought in by Tori Pace on a sacrifice groundball.

Madison Hardy scored Jimenez later in the inning on an RBI double to center field.

“I’m not really pleased with the way we played, and I’m sure the players would say the same thing,” Phil Campbell head coach Darit Riddle said.

“We could have played better, and our usual hitters didn’t hit today. We just had to grind it out for a win.”
