H. Neil Taylor, 90, died at home in Russellville, on Oct. 10, 2012.

He was a former Circuit Judge of the 31st Judicial Circuit of the State of Alabama. He was a former county solicitor of Franklin County. He practiced law for more than 50 years. His proudest public accomplishment was the role he played in the establishment of Alabama’s first public junior college.

He coordinated much of the lobbying that helped get established a public junior college for Alabama. He was a proud veteran of the Second World War II where his primary service was to train members of a light tank company. He was a past State Commander of the D.A.V., because of a training accident that caused a service connected disability.

He was predeceased by a son, Riley William Taylor. He has a surviving brother named, Roger Taylor. He was predeceased by a sister, Charlsie Huey, and two brothers, Foy Taylor and Kenneth Taylor.

He is survived by a son, Neil Taylor, Jr., children of Neil, Jr. are: Neil Taylor, III, a grandson, Christopher Eric Taylor, a grandson, Emily Elaine Carden, a granddaughter, children of Emily; Anthony Peter Carden and Judah Carden, Amanda Taylor, a granddaughter, Amanda’s child; Emma Jane Taylor. Riley William Taylor’s surviving daugther is Laura Stewart, whose children are Taylor Cornelius, Aaron Cornelius, Tydus Stewart, Makayla Stewart and Madison Stewart.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Akins Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m.
